In the rapidly advancing industrial era, pressure is crucial across various domains, from everyday life and healthcare to industrial manufacturing processes. In industries, pressure is a vital factor in electromechanical production, food processing, and wastewater treatment. Meanwhile, in healthcare, vacuum pressure is employed for surgical procedures, medical examinations, and oxygen provision.

1. Pressure calibration

Pressure calibration is the comparison of the output of a device used to measure pressure with that of another pressure measurement device, or pressure measurement standard to ensure pressure measurements are accurate and comply with accepted or mandated standards.

Unlike verification, which is typically a pass/fail determination, calibration is about determining accuracy as well as ensuring that the pressure gauge operates with the desired accuracy.

Pressure calibration might be seen as a voluntary activity for some people. They can choose whether to calibrate or not. For large-scale, high-tech production lines, this is a regular and closely monitored activity.

2. Why pressure calibration is necessary?

In today's world, there are quite a lot of machines and equipment that use pressure in their operating mechanism. Over time, due to prolonged use or environmental factors, these pressure-measuring devices may lose their accuracy, leading to significant errors. This can disrupt the production process and potentially harm a business's reputation.

To address this issue, calibration services have been introduced. These services allow businesses to calibrate the pressure in their machinery and equipment, offering several benefits:

  • Establish a connection between the measuring devices and the measurement standards, ensuring consistency and precision in measurements.
  • Determine the error of the measuring device.
  • Determine the uncertainty of the measuring device
  • Detect or predict potential failure, and facilitate the planning of repair and maintenance for the measuring devices.
  • Help users monitor and maintain the pressure of their equipment and production systems within the preset limits, preventing surplus or deficit pressure scenarios.
  • Ensure the reliability of the measuring device for the measurement results
  • Adhere to the quality standards set by the industry, as well as national and international regulations.

3. Calibration equipments

Digital pressure manometer

The pressure changes do alter the electrical properties of the transducer material, resulting in a change in the electronic signal. This is how electronic manometers measure pressure.

Spring manometer (pressure gauge)

A spring manometer works based on the principle of elastic deformation of a spring element under the influence of pressure. The pressure causes the spring to deform, and this deformation is magnified through a magnifying actuator. Additionally, the deformation can be converted into a signal that can be transmitted over a distance.

.

Pressure transducer and transmitter

The device converts pressure into electrical signals that are returned to the processing controllers. The main components include: Sensor, Transducer, Transmitter.

Differential pressure manometer

Also known as a differential pressure meter, is a device used to measure the difference in pressure between two points. The pressure difference is then displayed on the manometer’s scale.

.

Pressure switch

Also known as a pressure relay, is a device that regulates and controls pressure in pipelines. When the pressure switch detects a change in pressure, it converts these pressure signals into an ON/OFF state of the circuit. When the pressure reaches a certain threshold, the switch activates or deactivates a circuit.

4. Standards used

Standards used:

  • Standard digital pressure gauge  AMETEK
  • Standard digital pressure gauge DRUCK
  • Standard digital pressure gauge CRYSTAL
  • Standard pressure generation system

Auxiliary equipment:

  • Temperature - humidity measuring device
  • Stopwatch
